Whew, what an exciting day! First of all, we are safe and thank everyone who thought of us & emailed to check up on us. For those who don't know, Hawaii had a 6.6 magnitude earthquake this morning at about 7:08 a.m. I was half asleep when I felt it. At first I thought it was the kids jumping and then I realized it was an earthquake. I grabbed our youngest son and took him downstairs to check on the other kids. That's when we felt another strong aftershock. The kids didn't know what to think as that was the first time they've experienced that. I told them that if they feel another strong aftershock to get in a doorway.
We lost power for most of the day. I think it came back on at 5:00 p.m. We didn't go out because of the heavy rains. I also needed gas in my van but the gas stations were closed. I couldn't do laundry or vacuum and we had to conserve water also. Luckily, we have a small butane stove and lots of food. We also have a couple of hand-crank flashlight/radios. That kept us somewhat connected to what was going on. My cell phone was dead so that didn't help me much.
After a while, I had to find something to do besides read my stamping magazines. I wanted to stamp...at first, I couldn't get my butt in gear. When I finally did, I ended up with 12 stamped cards! Yippee! That's the most I've got to stamp in months! Do I want another a day like this to stamp again? Most definitely, but without an earthquake this time! :-) I'm feelin' good and I'll be a happy camper if I don't get to stamp for another month. I will post photos as soon as I get pictures taken.

Hi Clara,
My name is Maria. I recently created a blog and noticed that you are from Hawaii. I'm originally from Hawaii. . .I lived in Kapolei. We moved to California a year ago.
I'm glad that no one was hurt or killed after the earthquake. I wonder how our house in Hawaii handled the earthquake considering with had two 7 ft retainer walls at the back of the house. It would be horrible if the walls didn't hold up the hill. We sold the house 6 months ago. . .I hope the new buyers are okay.
Anyway, just wanted to say "hello" to another Hawaii person.
Maria
Heya...
I found your blog (linked from the SCS site)... I was also in the HI earthquake last November - our wedding was the evening before on Maui.
Interesting way to spend the honeymoon. Fortunately, we (& our friends/family who came to HI with us) were fine too.
Take care,
Jen
